What is RFID?

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification and is a technology that allows physical objects to be identified and counted wirelessly, via radio waves.

Items to be counted must be affixed with an “RF-enabled” label or tag. RF labels and tags contain a microchip fused to an antenna called an inlay. A reader and antenna collect the information programmed in the microchip via the transmission of radio waves.

  • Every item is serialized

  • Tags store data and act as a sensor

  • Count items literally through walls

  • Count 100’s of items per-second

RFIDs radio waves can penetrate most surfaces, however, materials such as metals and liquids may present challenges for the technology. These limitations however are not absolute, and there are ways to work around them to achieve successful results. For example, metal items that must be tracked can be tagged using “on-metal” tags, and liquids can be tagged using “collar tags” to place the tag above the area in which the liquid is located.

RF Hardware

Handheld RFiD Readers

Handheld RFID Readers for Mobile Data Collection – Our handheld RFID readers connect to any Android or iOS smartphone or tablet app via Bluetooth to collect and upload RFID data remotely, anywhere in the world where there is internet connectivity.

Industrial Mobile RFiD Readers

Push-Tower Reader with Telescoping Antenna – To aid businesses that must audit locations where handheld readers fail to have sufficient read-range to effectively collect data, we have developed our “Push Tower” Reader mount. The Push Tower utilizes a Speedway reader, along with 1 or more telescoping antenna which can be extended up to 18’ high, to audit and search for items stored up high. A mounted rechargeable battery allows the operator to collect data mobily for up to 2 hrs per charge.

Forklift RFID Reader & Antenna Mount – Businesses wishing to perform cycle counts of large Distribution Centers we offer our Forklift RFID Reader & Antenna Mount option. The mount utilizes the Speedway reader and can connect multiple antennas to each side to cover two sides of a row in a single pass. Power can be drawn from the forklift’s battery, or customers may choose the mounted rechargeable battery which provides up to 2 hours of auditing capability per charge.

Cloud Data Collection

Smart Locations (Shelving, Displays, Kiosks, and Storerooms) – Businesses operating unmanned locations who wish to collect real-time data from this area may choose our “Smart” Locations (Shelving, Displays, Kiosks, & Storerooms) which provides an autonomous collection of inventory data real-time, via a scheduler, or generated on demand.

Fixed Installations – Businesses wishing to collect inventory data autonomously over a large area we offer fixed installations. Data can be collected in real-time, via a scheduler, or on-demand.

Portals & Gateway Readers

Continuous, Hands-free Monitoring – Installs overhead or on walls to automatically monitor items for always-on connectivity.
